White River Junction is a funky little Vermont town near Hanover NH. Back during the glory days of rail travel, the town served as a gateway to the green mountains and link to the grand hotels that use to dot both Vermont and New Hampshire. The town’s seen recent growth stemming from an influx of artist types. There are a couple of good restaurants, a bakery, boutiques and the Tip Top Artist building which serves as studio space for many of the artists in the area.
The Center For Cartoon Studies calls the town home and has it’s major studio building in the old Colodny General Store. The school is one of the few in the country that offers a MFA program in cartooning – taught and advised by some of the best cartoonists around. If you’re ever around, it’s worth checking out. There’s usually an event going on or movie playing. If you’re interested in finding out more, check out cartoonstudies.org
